Young People’s Public Re-visioning Workshop

Kilkenny County Council is currently engaged in a process of drawing up a Master Plan for the long-term redevelopment of the Smithwick’s Brewery lands in Kilkenny city centre.   As part of this Master Plan process, we are holding a young people’s public workshop in conjunction with Comhairle ná nÓg on Wednesday 18th of February 2015, from 10-13.00pm in the County Council, John Street, Kilkenny.

This event, entitled ‘The Brewery: Re-Visioning’ is an opportunity for young people and schools/youth clubs to contribute to the drawing up of a vision and principles for the redevelopment of the site. If you would like to get involved please contact your local school or youth club by 5pm Thursday 12th of February 2015 as pre-registration is required for the event.

Open Call to participate in The Brewery: RE-Visioning

Kilkenny County Council invites Kilkenny residents new and old to come together to contribute to the drawing up of a vision and principles for the redevelopment of the Brewery site in Kilkenny City Centre.  There are two alternative weekends for this event; Friday the 9th and Saturday 10th January and Friday the 23rd and Saturday the 24th January.

Some background reading for these workshops is available here

Why should I participate?

The Brewery: RE-Visioning is your opportunity to shape the vision for the Brewery site, setting out how it should look in 30 years time.  The Council will use this Vision to guide development on the site.

Who'll be there?

Everyone is welcome to attend, once they’ve registered by the 19th January.

What's happening over the two days?

On the Friday evening, you will work with the group towards developing a vision.  (Time 19.00 to 21.30)

On Saturday morning, you will develop this further, and work on how to achieve the vision, and what principles should be adopted to guide development on the site.

(Time 10.00 to 13.00) The day will end with a light lunch where all participants can swap experiences.

Yes, to get the most from this event, we ask that you commit to attending on the Friday evening and Saturday morning, on either weekend.  Places are limited, so register early, and those that can attend on the consecutive Friday and Saturday will be given preference.
