Dear Aine,
Further to your letter 19th June inst., please note that we represent Mr. Michael Finnerty in respect of his site at Kells, Co. Kilkenny.
Mr Finnerty is a pensioner on disability living in sheltered accommodation funded by the parish council in Hugginstown, Co. Kilkenny and as such is extremely anxious at the proposal in respect of his former home, now derelict at Kells. He has no financial means outside of the state provision and anticipates selling the site to help fund his old age.
We have been instructed to object to the proposed plan in the strongest terms, and professional fail to recognise the merits given that the property was deemed inhabitable by the council causing Mr Finnerty to be re-located almost a decade ago.
The compulsory purchase of a strip of road frontage by the Kilkenny County Council, decreased the value and held up the potential sale 2 years ago and given that the property is overrun by vermin and in a dangerous state of repair we strongly suggest your department review this proposal. Alternatively should the council wish to purchase the site with the existing dwelling, the site can be purchased considerably below market value.
